There has been a veterinary practice at Riverstown Cross since 1965, when Glanmire was a Glanmire Premisessmall village near Cork city with a fraction of the population it has today. PJ O’Driscoll and Bill Cashman have been the principal veterinary surgeon partners since 1983 until Pj O Driscoll’s retirement in Septemeber 2019. The practice is now a solely small animal practice, with a branch pet clinic in Cobh.
Cashman & O’Driscoll has three veterinary surgeons in all. Working with Bill are Gene Cashman and Noelle O Mahony and and we have a practice manager Susan Leahy RVN and 3 other veterinary nurses – Margaret Power RVN, Charlie Fawsitt RVN and Laura Doherty RVN, Marie Falvey completes the team in reception and administration.
The Glanmire practice was renovated in 2000 when it was registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) as a Companion Animal Hospital. This is the highest premises standard attainable under the VCI premises accreditation scheme.
We are also a training centre for veterinary nurse students and helped to design their course in St John’s Central College, which is accredited by the Veterinary Council of Ireland. The result is a range of skills and services that help us to optimise our patients’ health.
